openstack/kayobe — Week of 2026-08-08

Deployment workflow. The largest change of the week reworks the kolla-ansible integration into a cleaner split between install and configure phases (995016), reshuffling ~350 lines across the playbook boundary. Alongside this, systemd-networkd gained support for QoS egress and ingress settings, giving operators a way to shape traffic on networkd-managed hosts without falling back to alternate renderers.

Switch and baremetal drivers. The Arista switch interface configuration was corrected, and the Dell switch driver now tolerates whitespace in port descriptions. Bifrost extra_kernel_params validation was tightened after producing false failures. On the CI side, Tenks now emulates Redfish baremetal nodes, expanding coverage of the Ironic-facing deployment paths beyond IPMI.

Stability and backports. A recurring failure when inspection-rule retrieval errors were not handled cleanly was fixed and backported across four stable branches. Stale DNF configuration comments were also cleaned up to match current behavior.

Maintenance. A hacking bump to the 8.y.z series and a support-matrix note correction for Rocky Linux 9 round out the week.
