openstack/zun — Week of 2026-09-05

Maintenance sweep. The week was overwhelmingly cleanup, with 27 merges totaling only ~610 lines. The largest change replaced the deprecated remotable_classmethod across the objects layer (1002936), and a long tail of small patches trimmed dead code: a Python 2.6 workaround, an xrange compatibility check, unused SSL options, static_root, transactional.SYNC_TIMEOUT, duplicated hacking checks for assertIn/assertNotIn and assertIsInstance, and lingering unicode literals. os-client-config usage was also removed in favor of newer keystoneauth/openstacksdk plumbing.

Tooling and packaging. Zun's tox and devstack configuration got a broad refresh: pyproject.toml was added for pip 23.1 compatibility, the minimum tox version moved to 3.18.0, basepython and the redundant install_command override were dropped, the debug-py36 env was removed, fast8 was updated, stale bindep markers were cleared, and py3 became the default tox runtime. On the devstack side, mod_wsgi support was removed, a bash conditional in upload_images was fixed, and the test image was refreshed.

Bug fixes. A capsule type mismatch when concatenating container lists was corrected, a pecan library deprecation warning was silenced, and the documented zun-compute systemd unit was corrected to actually start cleanly.
